The plan in one breath: one lodge, three booked adventures, two open days. A riverfront lodge on the Kenai with a private dock — sleeps twelve, fish before breakfast.

Getting there: Alaska 1536, nonstop JFK → Anchorage, wheels down 1:30 PM AKDT. Then the rig (Chevy Tahoe) seats seven, just under three hours' drive to home base. Homer is two hours past that; Katmai sits off to the southwest.

The three booked days:

1. Sun, Aug 9 · 6:30 AM — The Boat — a multi-species charter out of Homer aboard the West Wind. Call time 6:30; set two alarms.
2. Tue, Aug 11 · 8 AM — The Bears — the marquee day: a floatplane over Katmai country to watch brown bears fish the river below. Viewing guaranteed, 8 to 4.
3. date & start time TBC — Kenai Fjords Glacier Cruise — out of Seward.

Two open days (dates TBC), on purpose — no plan at all. Everyone gets a vote; bids accepted at dinner.
